This cottage has an interesting history - after being built as a home it was used by a number of banks before reverting to a home and is now a museum and the headquarters for the Merriwa Historical Society. Take a poke around this fascinating little place and let the members of the Historical Society fill you in on the history of the area. This cottage is believed to have been built around 1856 by a Mr Leard. Local History suggests that it also served for a period as a bank, as well as the cellar being used for dances and meetings.
