About Private Tour: Wombat State Forest Wildlife Safari 4WD Tour From Melbourne

Book Direct with the Owner at Private Tour: Wombat State Forest Wildlife Safari 4WD Tour From Melbourne with Attractions in Melbourne, for all your Attraction and travel needs.

Go on 4-wheel-drive adventure through Victoria's Wombat State Forest on this private 8-hour tour that provides the opportunity to see waterfalls, taste mineral water, discover gold rush history, and spot wild animals including wombats, kangaroos, wallabies, and owls. An afternoon departure time means you'll be able to see the wildlife in both the daylight and at night, when the animals are more active. Dinner and snacks are included, numbers are limited to 11 people to provide a small-group experience with a guide who tells you stories and facts about the area.

Designed for those who want to get out of the city to see the natural beauty of Victoria, your tour starts with pickup at your Melbourne hotel by a custom-built 4-wheel-drive bus. You then travel towards the great dividing range to the town of Trentham, where you'll visit Trentham Falls, the longest single-drop waterfall in Victoria.

After another brief ride on the bus, stop to taste mineral spring water and view historical sites of the Victorian gold rush and colonial development of the area. You'll do all this while traveling by 4WD through Wombat State Forest on testing tracks, which traverse the Great Dividing Range, running from South Australia all the way to Queensland (not that you’ll be going that far!). By traveling in an off-road vehicle limited to a maximum of 11 passengers (your friends/family or collegues) you're able to check out many hidden places not frequented by most other visitors.

Stop for dinner (location decided on the day of travel), which varies each tour; it could be a barbecue, a home-cooked meal, or a local restaurant. While you eat, wait for night to fall and the nocturnal animals of the forest to awaken. Then drive through the forest to a number of locations as you search for animals like the common nosed wombat and the eastern grey kangaroo in their natural habitats—this may involve going for a short walk through forest to find them. Enjoy the scent of the eucalyptus trees, and on a good night, you might also have the chance for some stargazing, looking for the Southern Cross constellation.

Your tour ends as you head back to the city for drop-off at your Melbourne accommodation, with your guide making sure you safely enter before leaving.
