Prospect Reservoir was the first earth fill embankment dam in Australia. It remains an integral part of Sydney's drinking water supply and is required in times of high demand for water. Lookouts give you unimpeded views of the dam and its immediate surrounds. The original buildings, structures and historic machinery related to the construction of the dam can still be seen on-site. A lovely spot to enjoy a BBQ picnic with areas to play and walking and cycle tracks throughout. Note the reservoir is closed until the end of 2014 to allow for essential upgrading works to the dam.
