Visit Hervey's Range Heritage Tea Rooms
The year 2000, alone, tired and neglected was the old EUREKA HOTEL built in 1865. Located at the top of Hervey's Range inland from Townsville, Allan and Michelle Sharpe saw the building in disrepair and decided to take the long road to restore it into what has now become the world famous Hervey's Range Heritage Tea Rooms.
The house coffee is excellent at $4.00, or you can splash out and feast your senses on the rarest and most expensive coffee on earth ($50 per cup) just one of the reasons for their popularity and the subsequent 4 North Queensland Tourism Awards that have been won. Dine on the verandah or in the shady garden while enjoying fresh scones with lashings of jam and cream, or a hot all day breakfast followed by a walk in the forest along the quiet walking tracks.
“When you put it into perspective” says Michelle talking about the slab sided inn “1865 when this place was built, Ned Kelly was 10 years old and they were still shipping convicts, this is the oldest building in North Queensland” Take a step back in time and let the children discover Australia as it was. Suits all ages – open 7 days 9am to 4pm
