Caspers World in Miniature
One of the most interesing places to visit in Stawell is Caspers World In Miniature, a collection of outstanding miniatures and scale models of world renowned landmarks and lifestyles.
Opened in 1976, it rapidly earned a reputation as something different to visit on the road between Adelaide and Melbourne, Featuring a 12 and a half metre high scale model of Eiffel Tower, a Dutch windmill pumping water into a mini-harbour reflecting Australia's maritime history, mini railways and picnic and barbecue areas, it was also the site of the Stawell & Grampians Information Centre, and was a popular stop-over for thousands visiting the park and adjacent tearooms.
In 1988 local identities Norma Cosson and David Lye took over the park and began an energetic upgrading of facilities and the addition of even more features.
Among them things to see today are extensive Asian pavilion with 'Rani' the elephant: international dioramas on Papua/New Guinea, New Zealand, Canada, The Netherlands, and Alaska. There are scale models of the Eiffel Tower, a pyramid 4 stories high, the Steiermark Railway, and Indonesian rice fields. A Polynesian village is another new feature.
